I meant saturday, not sunday... Thanks Travis... Día 46: “Como mamá está decidida a hacerme ordenar la habitación, le pediré asilo diplomático en casa de mi Tía.” I kid you not, that was a sentence straight from the text at school. ^.^ Tia and I got a kick out of it. After class, Tia and I looked for my bag in her office. No find. T.T Finally we got the idea to call Tio to check in the other car. While we waited, we kept checking the office. At last the phone rang. Yup, my bag got changed into the car with Pico y Placa when Tio went to get Tia to run errands. >.> I was sooo excited. Not gonna lie. I went to class, and when I came out, the original plan was that Tio was going to pick me up outside because Tia had to run errands. When I got out of the building, I thought I had seen the car, so I went outside of the gates. When I got there I realized that it wasn’t Tio… >.> So I stayed there and waited. I saw Tia come out of the gates a little later. Apparently there was a change of plans because Tia got held up in the office, so she couldn’t go out. She took me back home for lunch. I printed out the group picture from Capoiera, and on the back wrote a note with my e-mail. Tio and I went shopping for more stuff before Capoiera. Then Tio took me to MACH for class, but there was none, which was really depressing. So I left the pictures with the girl at the counter, to give to either the teacher, or the people in the picture. I also couldn’t get the pants which was way sad… T.T So instead, we went to pick up the Porsche. They went through almost everything with Tio, down to how the jack works. When Tia came, we went over the basics that you need to know for driving, then we had to go because she had a student waiting in her office. His name was Benjamin. We took him out to eat, and around the Parque Yeddas. After dinner, we took him to Abuela’s apartment because his wouldn’t be ready until Friday, the landlady got confused on the dates, so there was some one in his apartment still. Imagine that, you get to a foreign country, and your apartment has some one in it… >.> Good thing he knows Spanish! Día 47: Have you no respect???? It’s a PORSCHE!!! At breakfast I showed Tia the game of a-bunch-of-squares-tied-together-that-yo u-have-to-make-one-big-square-thing. ^.^; I found it yesterday when we were at the mall, so I decided to get it for them, as if the triangle game isn’t enough. In class we talked about enigmas… I am sooo not sleeping… >.> There were a bunch of foreign exchange students in Tia’s office, so we couldn’t leave on time… Tio no happy. Tia told me that the power went out at the apartment, so Tio had to order in. When Tia and I got to the apartment, we pressed the button and waited for the elevator. About five minutes later we realized that the power was out, which is why Tio had to order in, and we were in trouble… -.- We be bright today… Lunch was a little on the cold side, but what do you expect? >.< After lunch I went on errands with Tio. We went to take an invitation to Sepi, buy groceries, and get flowers for Abuela and Tia. While we were at the florist, someone stole Tio’s right rearview mirror. What is that? We were like 10 feet away, and they stole it… Yea, Tio was pissed… He ranted all the way to Viscaya. >.> Abuela was in her room watching Chavo del Ocho, when we arrived. She was really happy for the flowers, and I think she really liked them. She asked when I was coming back, and I replied, well, when I’m invited! Tio and Abuela responded that I’m always invited. <3 We couldn’t stay too long because we still had to go get wine, and get home before Santiago. Santiago is an old friend of Tia’s from way back in Onda. (I know I butchered that… oh well). While we were eating, Tio and I sat next to each other, and half way through, Tio looked like he had cut his finger really badly. We looked around and tried to figure out what it was that he had gotten cut on, and why he didn’t feel it. Eventually he wiped it off, and we realized it was just wine… >.>; We took Santiago and his wife to their hotel in the new Porsche. In the center of Medellín this kid was banging on the car trying to get Tia to give him a moneda for shutting the door. I was so mad… I was like, no, I’m going to hit you if you don’t back away from the car like now… >.< Violent tendencies…

Día 45: Bag? Have I mentioned that I hate mornings? Especially when you wake up in pain. >.> My foot hurt so bad… T.T Not cool. Tia took Tio Ricardo to the airport really early, so I didn’t see her before I left. Tio was going to take me when we realized that he had Pico y Placa. -.-; So he called a cab, we waited a while, then went downstairs to wait some more. The Portero asked why we were waiting outside, Tio told him, and he called the company. The Cabbie was missing something, so he couldn’t make it… They sent a different cab. We waited some more. Finally a cab came, and we got in. The only problem is that it was for room 301, not 201… Oh well. They sent another cab any way. Well, as you can imagine, after that I was quite late. But hey, I had a good excuse, right? After my first class I went to Tia’s office to drop stuff off and go for food. Tia brought me my blue bag because I wanted to split some of the weight, instead of carrying everything on my bad foot/back. I put my wallet in my blue bag, because it’s smaller than my computer bag, and went for food. I ended up coming back with three frappuccinos, a guyava pastel, pan de bono, and palo de queso. Claudia, my aunt’s secretary, was like are you trying to make me gain weight? We all ate and ran around, then I went to my other class, then home. When I got home I realized that I had left my blue bag with my computer cable, and my wallet in my aunt’s office. >.> So I did the natural thing and called my aunt, she said that she found it and was going to bring it to me. I was like sweet! I also learned that there was another student at my same level who started this last Monday. >.> So mad… I went to pick up Tia with Tio and went to the Photo club with them. When we picked up Tia, I asked her where my bag was because I didn’t see it. She said she had brought it home at lunch… O.o; I was a little worried since I had called her at 2 and it was there. She said that it was either in the apartment or in the office, I said ok. The presentation from the Photo Club was of an American photographer who’s name I forget. But there were really interesting pictures of the USA. Even a couple of Arizona! Man, did I want to go home… T.T After the presentation we ran home because there were a few exchange students that were supposed to be arriving, that Tia was supposed to meet. A little after we had eaten we get the call that 4 flights were delayed, so the first pair wouldn’t be coming in until around 9 o’clock at night. Tia and I searched the house, and didn’t find my bag. I went with her to bring some food to the apartment for the guys from Holland, but ran into a problem because the guard wouldn’t let the boys in with out written consent from the owner of the apartment… So Tia and I ran home, thinking that they would soon be landing, and need a place to stay. Tia called the landlady, and tried to get the apartment situation straightened out. When we got a call from the taxi company saying that the boys never arrived. They waited until the last of the passengers, and no one came to the sign. Tia was really worried, wondering if it was because their bags didn’t come in and they were trying to get that straightened out, and what’s worse, she didn’t know their level of Spanish. She talked me into going to bed instead of waiting up for her for the other student that was supposed to arrive around midnight. It really wasn’t that big of a difference, but I think those 30 minutes helped… PS My plane lands at 6:30 pm, on sunday the 14th, for any one who wants to know... mood: worried |

Two days in a row I know!!! <3 Día 43: Were are they??? After breakfast Tia and I were wondering why Tio Ricardo hadn’t called yet, since she thought that he was a morning person. But it was ok, because we got to chill and take the morning easy, sleep in. I was excited, I’m not gonna lie. When Tio Ricardo called we agreed to go to the Rodeo for lunch with Abuela and Abuelo. Since Melissa nor aunt Lois speaks Spanish, we had to translate for them. Tia doesn’t like her English, and I think it sounds weird speaking English. So we kinda stumbled through it. At least I know that my writing is still good, right??? After lunch Tia and I took Abuelo and Abuela to see Margarita, then to the apartment, while Tio took Tio Ricardo and family to the airport to check for their luggage. It still hadn’t come in. >.> They are worried because they leave for San Andrea on Tuesday. While they were out Tia and I went to the Parque de los Pies Descalzos to see if they were there for my last Sunday here. They weren’t, which was really depressing. We walked around the park, but didn’t really find anything else interesting. When we got home we all had dinner of Pan Queso y Vino. Tia took everyone else to Abuela’s apartment, and Tio and I stayed to clean the kitchen, because we didn’t fit in the car, and there was a lot to do. Just after they left it began to pour outside. It was incredible! It rained all night long. So nice. ^.^ <3 Día 44: Bail with grace Woke up to my phone vibrating on the night stand, not the best sound in the world. I nearly hit the roof. Lack of sleep is taking it’s toll, so friggin tired… Even Harry’s tired. He didn’t want to connect to the internet. T.T After the second class I ran into Danny again. He was like I thought you left! I was like, well if you’d call me every once in a while! <3 We talked for a little while, then I had to go. Tia took me back to the apartment, where I ate what was left of lunch. This is not the best schedule in the world, I must admit. Cecilia was telling me that they missed me at lunch, and I’m leaving them with bad habits. I was like, like what? The biggest is the company because it’s just the two of them most of the time, and when one goes one way, the other has to go another. Tio got used to eating twice at night, and having music in the kitchen. Tia is starting to actually eat dinner, and drink frapuccinos during the morning. Tio Ricardo and family came over for a little while, but Tio had to run out because he had a meeting at 2:30. Tio Ricardo and family went to meet Tia at the bank around 3:15, so I got time to start getting my things ready to pack. T.T It was so sad!!! Went to Capoiera, and managed to land really poorly on my right foot. I knew I couldn’t go two months without killing myself… I have yet to learn how to fall gracefully. -.- Some of the other guys fall and roll. It’s really funny. Here I am ballerina and all, flat on my back, wind knocked out of me, and a killer pain in my foot. >.> Some people are just lucky like that I guess. ^.^; After class when we were sitting at the snack bar, Paolo was looking at my class ring. He asked and I told him that it was my class ring. He said it looked like something from Roxy, or whatever. Then asked when I graduated, when I said May all the guys just stared at me. I was like what? Paolo asked how old I was and I said 18. I got the most shocked looks!!! They said that they thought I was some where between 20 and 25. ^.^; Shortly after Paolo practically ran back inside to change, and I stayed outside with the other guys talking. Tio picked me up and told me that we were going to go out to dinner when Tio Ricardo got back to the apartment, but we could still have “algo” before they got there. I jumped in the shower to get rid of the sticky feeling that sweat leaves. I really don’t like humidity. We ate, and Tia got home. We all just sat around watching TV, and waiting. Tia and Tio both fell asleep on the couch. I tried calling Danny, but I think he had a class, so naturally he didn’t answer. Finally Tio Ricardo showed up, and we all went out to eat at Romma/ Fusion/ Foggata. Tio, Tia, and I all ordered something from the Peruvian side of the restaurant, and we decided that Peru just doesn’t have very good food. >.> I went with Tia to take Tio Ricardo and Family back to Abuela’s so that she didn’t have to drive back alone. My foot was killing me, so I decided to go to bed when we got back to the apartment. <3 Sleep is good.

Día 41: Molida Ouch… Soreness much. Here they use the word molida, (which means ground, i.e. ground beef) I think that that describes the feeling much better than sore. But hey, that’s just me. I got to go home after the first class because Tia had to go to the consulate to sign papers and stuff, and the consulate is like 2 minutes away from the house. Well, actually depending on traffic it can be as many as 30 minutes, but that’s not the point. I resumed my usual place in the kitchen as DJ, this time with videos. Dianna, Abuelo’s nurse, took out the triangle game, so we played during lunch. I have officially addicted every one in the house to that game. ^.^; oops. After lunch I had to go to the other class. Then wait another two hours till we went home. So I finally got around to typing andd posting everything. Rather exciting. I also got time to look at the comics on MSNBC.com, highly recommended, they had a section on Latin America’s view on Immigration. It was very good. While we were waiting for Tia to get ready so we could go out to dinner, Tio and I played the triangle game. I finally learned it. I’m so excited. Then we went out to Hielo y Fuego for dinner. Día 42: 7/7/07 Well, on this holy day, Tia and I had a hair appointment at 7 am to get our hair dyed. OMGz that was so early. T.T And while I set my alarm for 6 am, I forgot to turn it on, so I didn’t get up till like quarter till seven when Tia came in to get me up. -.-; Not cool. After that we practically ran back home so that we could get ready and go to pick up Tio Ricardo from the airport. Especially since it’s an hour up the mountain, another hour down. T.T Then we had to wait another hour for them to come out because they lost their luggage. >.> We went to Sancho Paisa for lunch. I don’t think I’ve ever been there during the day. ^.^ It’s a lot bigger than I thought it was. Tia and I took Tio Ricardo and family to Abuela’s apartment, where they are staying, that was another hour of driving. But we saw the coolest sign! “NO SABEMOS SI ARRIBA HAY VIDA INTELIGENTE, LO QUE SI ES CLARO ES QUE AQUÍ NO” by Juan José Millas. That sign totally made my day. <3 When we got back, we watched the movie, The Thirteenth Warrior, with Antonio Banderas. In the movie he was supposed to be Arabic. Yes, an Arab with the heaviest Spanish accent I have ever heard!!! <3 xD Tia and I were laughing so hard, Tio didn’t get it because it sounded fine to him… ^.^ Amazingness. Then after that (the movie was like one and a half hours, highly recommended, and if some one could tell me the myth that story comes from I would be very grateful.) we ate dinner, and played the triangle game again, then dominos. <3 Tia has a set of dominos that has like 90 pieces. It was really interesting. I won one, and Tia the other. Then it was off to bed. <3

Let's try this again, I promise to update more often!!! Día 31: Food Just chilling. Found a post in the kitchen. Sound technician. ^.^ I plug in music while Tio cooks. I’m an official DJ, what now??? <3 Still taking it easy from being sick. But go to go out to another dinner with the Swiss. Amazing-ness as always. But a bunch of people said they were going to go, and didn’t show. So not cool. So, Sepi cooked for 20, but only 12 showed… Día 32: Still Ill Yup, still a little ill. The morning was really slow. But I talked myself into going to Capoiera, and I’m really glad I did. A new guy wanted to join the group, which was cool because there were only like 3 people there from our group. I got to play with the big kids!!! So exciting. I was like, wait, I don’t have to do push-ups?? SWEET!!! The new guy did, I felt kinda bad for him, but then I realized that I had to go through the same thing. Hell, still am… T.T I can do 10 real push-ups with out cheating or taking a break! ^.^;;; And I can fake 20. That’s exciting. The poor new guy was sooo lost. I was like, please tell me I was never THAT new… >.> Later we tried to watch Shrek, but the disk was bad. So depressing. So we watched James Bond instead. ^.^; Día 33: So many people! I walked around the mall with Tio starting to look for stuffs that I want to bring back for people. I am really bad at this!!! T.T It looks like you are all going to receive the wonderful gift of my presence!!! >.< There might be another Spanish class. I’m waiting to hear back about a time change. Capoiera again, back to the kids corner, but it wasn’t so much of a kids corner, because the usual group was in it. The difference was that we got flooded by guys who play on Sundays at the Parque de los Pies Descalzos. I don’t like the way that they play. If I thought our teacher was bad, these guys are brutal!!! I thought someone was seriously going to break something!!! The four people from the normal class (including me) just stood in the circle and stared at each other. They all got in at least once, I was like hell no! Sine none of us are used to playing like that, our teacher got in and kicked their butts. It was really funny. Sweet revenge!!! I also took pictures, and downloaded them to the computer. I need to get a picture of the whole group. But they never all seem to be there on the same day… >.> I also downloaded a couple of photo editing programs from Tio. Tia got invited to a dinner, and Tio and I got left home. He read and I got online and talked to mah mumma. Then went to bed early. (Around 10). Día 34: Who needs the weather man? Tio and I went to change the Shrek disk that was all scratched. The problem was that we got there before the store opened. -.-; So we went down to Oviedo for a cup of coffee and ended up at Astor, eating a piece of cake and drinking a cup of coffee. Tio also got the car washed while we were there. By the time we finally got home it was almost noon, and we usually eat lunch around one. >.> Tio started lunch, and then his sister called from New Mexico, so he took off and started talking to her. I was left in the kitchen staring at the boiling pot going, oh man, did he do that on purpose??? Thankfully shortly after he left Patricia came in and saved lunch. Later, Tio was making bread, and to kneed it he put the cutting tablet on the floor and threw the bread on it. O.o; I was like omgz the floor! Aaaand he threw the bread on the floor… >.< We also decided that the weather man is overrated. Any time it is going to rain, Tio’s knee starts hurting. And he’s pretty accurate!!! When Tia got home we decided to go clubbin. That’s right. The three of us went club hopping. ^.^;; It was really interesting to say the least. We started at a club called Vox. But it was closed in by brick walls and made me feel a bit claustrophobic. Then we went to the Ave Maria bar restaurant. Yes, Ave Maria. >.< I officially got started on my gift shopping. And we got home around one in the morning. The worst part was that I couldn’t sleep at one in the morning. Something I ate majorly disagreed with me. T.T I was up till 4:30 just about every hour in the bathroom… Día 35: four hours… Not off to a good start, I woke up around 8. After about four hours of sleep, I wasn’t in a great mood. Thankfully we just took it easy all morning, and by the afternoon I felt a lot better. I passed a lot f the morning going through pictures deciding what to send, and trying to balance a it of the color. Tio’s got me all obsessed with Picasa, so almost all the pictures have a bit of editing… ^.^;; After lunch Tia called Switzerland to talk to a friend who’s mother died earlier this week, and because of the time difference Tia hadn’t been ale to call during the week. Abuelo started on his dessert while we waited for Tia to get off the phone and join us. Tio went to take his siesta. The creatures we had gotten from Astor proved to be too hard for Abuelo to cut, so he picked it up and started eating it by hand. He didn’t get far before he decided he didn’t want any more. I cut it for him and fed it to him, because he still wanted it, but it was just too hard for him to do alone. Tia got off the phone and joined us to eat her rat. ^.^ After lunch, Tia and I went shopping. I got about half the stuffs I wanted to bring back. I also got a pair of pants. So I now have a complete outfit, and have completed my mission. Thank you very much… ^.^ That night we went to Sepi’s house for dinner. It was really yummy as always. But I didn’t eat a lot for fear of my stomach acting up. And I felt really bad because the four hours of sleep were taking revenge since I didn’t sleep or stop all day, and I started spacing out, really bad. T.T <3 Día 36: Hungry, not hungry, that is the question… We got off to a late start, and after breakfast we ended up running to Saint Moritz, because we were supposed to be there around 10, we were exactly on time… Latin time that is… After that Tia and I went shopping again, no luck this time. It didn’t help that I got kicked into sleep deprivation mode. I don’t know how either. I actually slept! Well, some time around one in the morning… We went to lunch at the Rodeo with Abuelo. Then Tia and I went grocery shopping, and made plans to get our hair done on Saturday at the ungodly hour of 7 in the morning, because Tio Ricardo and fam are coming in around noon. When we got back to the apartment we left practically straight away. Tia took Abuelo to see his sister and my Abuela and Tio and I went to the Parque de los Pies Descalzos, to see the capoiera there. I thought there was going to be a few people from the group that I practice with, but nope. I recognized one guy who came on Thursday, who had the same shirt as the guys in my group, but that was it. It was a huge group. But they played differently. They played hard, and were practically actually fighting. It was still really interesting to see. Tio said it was going to rain, and we booked it out of there. ^.~ When we got home, Abuelo was eating dinner. After he finished we put on Shrek and every one sat down to watch it. Abuelo stayed almost to the end, but still left before it was over. After Shrek, we ate dinner and decided to put on Wild Wild West with Will Smith. Unfortunately we ended up calling an intermission, because around 10:30 we were all snoozing. ^.^;;; Día 37: Puente, otra vez Well, another Puente. No work, no school. No one knows why. >.> We took Abuelo out to lunch , but he’s having a hard time walking. His right leg is giving him a lot of trouble. He fell when Tia was taking him out of the bathroom to the wheelchair. Luckily nothing happened, and I was in the hallway and heard her scream. But every thing turned out ok. I found the triangle game in my room, but it hadn’t been opened because Tia nor Tio knew how to play, nor what it was. So I showed them. Does any one know if that game has a name? It’s the one shaped like a triangle, and you have to try to leave one marble in the middle. It’s the one we used to play at Cracker Barrel. Abuela came over for coffee and apple pie. Yes, Tio made apple pie. It was sooo yummy. That night we found out that Colombia and USA were playing in the Latin Soccer Cup thing. Not against each other. But the both lost. It was rather depressing… We watched Wild Wild West, and this time actually watched it… Then we watched the music videos that were on the disk. It made for an interesting night. I got so home sick though… T.T I wanna go home… >.< never thought that’d happen, much less two months in… <3 Día 38: Wasabi!!! Well, got kicked out of bed early for the second first day of class… At least it’s only two weeks. And I’m the only student, so it’s basically what ever I want, and what I need. The teachers are really nice, but I got a weird schedule… >.> oh well. The main topic of the class is Human Rights. It’s interesting. Might I say for the fifty billionth time, home work sux… >.> After the first class I have like two hours before we go home for lunch. I went to the cafeteria for some breakfast because being late as always I didn’t eat breakfast. I got a yummy guava and cheese pastry. Then I just chilled here for two hours, did homework, read. I didn’t bring my computer, which was also vaguely depressing. >.< but hey, now I know better. Then we went home for lunch , ran out again, I took my second two hours of class, more Human Rights, then just hung out here again for two hours, read, did homework, listened to music. Fun stuff. We didn’t go straight home afterwards, Tia took me to Belly dancing classes. >.> It was supposed to be a group class, but I was the only one who showed up, so I got a private class for the price of a group class. It wasn’t too bad except for the majorly retarded feeling I got… -.-; It was bad, I’m not going to lie. Yes, much worse than capoiera. After getting my butt kicked for the fifty billionth time this vacation, we went out to dinner. We went back to Roma, and this time they had like three of the other restaurants open. Tio and I ordered pastas, but Tia ordered sushi. Anyone who is interested in Asian food knows of wasabi… Well, Tia and I were joking about it being guacamole, Tio decided to try it… We were like nooooo just kidding!!! Well, he tried it, and was like that’s not bad… And then proceeded to take the remaining guacamole, spread it over a piece of bread, and eat it. O.O It was crazy!!! Some how he talked Tia into trying it… I have pictures. Día 39: 007 License to sleep Class again. Nothing new there. If I haven’t gained weight yet, I probably will soon, two breakfast, two dinner. ^.^;;; Maybe I’ll start caring when I get home… maybe. ^.^ At lunch I tried to print some of the pictures I took of capoiera, but it didn’t work, so I had to leave with out… rather depressing. The capoiera teacher still doesn’t know my name. What is that? >.> I am also hoping to get the uniform, which is all white. If not at least the pants. Tia had a thing with some French union thing… Tio and I went to Crepes and Waffles for dinner, and spoke German. Whoo hoo! Alles gut hier! ^.^ When we got home we decided to start the movie while we waited for Tia to get home. Well, we were about half way through the opening credits when Tia walks through the front door! Talk about cinematic timing! We watched the movie, and I snoozed through it, I ended up going to bed before it was over because I kept spacing out and missing big parts of the movie. -.- Día 40: OMGz FRAPUCCINO! Have I mentioned that I hate mornings? I mean, they wouldn’t be so bad, if they started later, but the whole early thing, doesn’t work for me. After class I went to get my breakfast from the pastry place, and decided that I also wanted coffee. So I went next door, to Coffee Planet, and to my surprise, they had frapuccinos! I was so excited. I also heard that the last game of the Latin Cup was going to be played between Colombia and USA. They played for last, and second to last place. A rather depressing game if you know what I mean. At noon there was a large protest. If you haven’t heard please read http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19615942/ it’s a very good article from MSNBC. After capoiera, Tio and I went to Blockbuster to return the movies, and get new ones. While we ate our first dinner, we played the triangle game again. I think I have officially addicted the whole house to that game… ^.^; Later we watched the movie Alexander… That guy had more problems… It was rather depressing when his boyfriend died though… He was cute… T.T <3 mood: busy |

I’ve decided to skip a couple of days ahead, and tell you all about what happened yesterday. Yesterday in Colombia and around the world, people gathered in protest of the kidnappings and violence that is taking place in Colombia. It was a protest of sound and tears. At noon, I was sitting in the courtyard outside my aunt’s office checking my e-mails. I had my headphones in my ears, but over my music I began to hear alarms, all sorts of alarms, and bells and whistles. Tia came out and told me to hurry, but it wasn’t a sense of panic, rather determination. On the way to the car she explained to me that there was a protest going on, and at noon the people who weren’t going to march in the protest were to go out and honk and whistle and make noise to show their disapproval for the kidnappings and violence that the Guerrillas have incurred. Before we even got in the car she started hitting the horn. On the way to the Swiss Consulate (because she had to go there any way) there was so much noise in the streets. Most people were out driving in circles holding pieces of white paper or material to show that they wanted peace. At any intersection the horns were honking but for once for peace. It was the most sane I have seen Colombians drive in my time here believe it or not. They drove slow, and didn’t cut each other off, it was crazy. The streets had an odd musical tone to them. If by chance there was no one making noise, some one would honk or whistle and the noise would start. By the time we got to the consulate, people were walking in from their cars with white papers in hand, and back to the office, smiling and laughing. Tia was like; I don’t even do this for the soccer games! (Which are mega popular here). Up in the consulate, on the eighth floor of the office building, you could still hear the noise rising from the streets. The original plan was for it to last just five minutes, so that even the people who were working could go out for five minutes to voice their protest, but the noise lasted almost the full hour. It was one of the most impressionable things I have ever seen. That night on the news they showed some of the big marches like the ones in Bogotá and Medellín, artists like Juanes sang and marched for peace. Every one was dressed in white to symbolize peace. In the Colombian consulate in New York people gathered and had a moment of silence. In the consulate in Miami, people gathered to march for Colombia. In the consulate in Madrid, Spain there was also a large gathering of people showing they wanted peace. Even the tourists here in Colombia, went dressed in white to show their support of peace. Why is peace just a dream, a hope, or a prayer? Why? The link is to a page from MSNBC by Hugh Bronstein who also reported on the event. He gives much more information on the history and the problem that the guerrillas pose in Colombia. Please, read it, I think he did a very good job in explaining the situation here. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19615942/All we ask is peace. <3 ~Monica Urrea And I will try to get the missing days up as soon as possible, this just appeared a hell of alot more important.

Día 29: Pavement withdrawals… We drove up to the mountains to spend the day in a friend’s finca. The idea sounded great at the time. No pollution, open spaces, blah blah blah… Next time I decide to do something even remotely nature like, some one slap me… -.-; I am such a city girl it’s kinda sad. I got attacked by mosquitoes up and down my arms, even on my neck. I am so grateful to the person who invented jeans. That’s the only reason I don’t have any on my legs. Well, when Tio and I left, Tia was asleep on the couch. The plan was that she was going to give Abuelo lunch, then come up and meet us to eat. Then Tio would go back down so Abuelo wasn’t alone as long, and I would come back down with Tia. Tia ended up bringing Abuelo, so we all sat around and talked as I silently counted down to when Abuelo’s patience was going to run out, so I could jump the first ride back to the city. Sure enough about an hour after arrival, he was ready to go home. The good part was that he honestly enjoyed being out there with all the people, and everything. The bad part was that by that night he had forgotten. It takes the three, or at minimum two, of us to put him in the car and to take him out. I volunteered to cut my trip short so Tio didn’t have to get him out of the car alone. Just like that I was on my way back to the city. ^.^ It was exciting, I’m not going to lie. Sure it’s nice to visit the country side and hang out, but only when there’s something to do… They talked, and talked, and talked, and promised a walk, which never happened. T.T Then they talked some more. We got home around 5 and Abuelo was a bit hesitant to get out of the car, but we talked him into it with the promise he’d go straight to bed. Which he did. Tio and I ate, and waited for Tia. Waited until nearly 8 before she got home. Tio was about to drive up and get her. Considering that she had been having dizzy spells for the last 2 days, we were a bit concerned. She got home and said she was fine. Then was about to go out for groceries. O.o We were like no, sit, sleep. We told the nurse that she was to watch Tia, and make sure she went to bed straight away. We left and came back, and found her in the kitchen with the nurse, eating a bowl of cereal. She hadn’t gone to sleep at all, but started doing chores. >.> Then we all sat down to watch Oliver Twist. ^.^ Día 30: One month Well, one month out. Tio’s kinda sad that I haven’t managed to gain weight. Still 55 kilos. That’s about 120 pounds, for any one who wants to know. My aunt didn’t believe me, so we broke out the scale, and yup 55. Other than that, not much, itchy as all hell, and I <3 Doctor Burt’s Green Goodness. I’m also looking into belly dancing classes!!! ^.^ There was a meeting here, aaaaand that’s about all that’s interesting… ^.^;;; <3

Día 26: Ouch I think that the Capoiera teacher is trying to kill me… Just a slight guess. I woke up so tired, not cool. I plugged Harry and Alex in and set up music in the kitchen for Tio when he was making lunch, so as I’m not completely useless hovering in the kitchen. Went to Capoiera again. Pinched a vein in my hip again. I hate it when I do that. Best part was, it wasn’t even like I was doing something complicated! T.T It’s always the simple stuff that kills me… I also tweaked something in my wrist. I don’t even know how I did that one… Didn’t help that I woke up with my arm all bent under me… -.- Tio rented a movie, ok ready for this? “Sobre vaqueros, de vacas!” >.> That definitely goes right up there with “Mi carro es el blanco” (motions to parking lot where there is nothing but 2 white cars). Well, I was so tired that I opted out of the movie in favor of sleep. Día 27: “The name’s Bond. James Bond.” Woke up sore much… But that was to be expected. I was kinda depressed when I found out there was no butter for my arepa. T.T So I had an apple with Nutella instead. Tio and I went to the castle to see what they had for classes. Nothing. What they had was all for little kids. There was one group that went up to age 17. But it started at like 11. Tio and I agreed to go back on a day when the sun was out so we could take pictures. He would have probably stayed, if I hadn’t insisted that the castle was creeping me out. His references to Dracula didn’t help the matter either. Tia came home and was way tired. She got home and went straight to bed for a little while. About 20 minutes later she was talking about going to the movie theater… -.- Tio and I convinced her that for tonight, Blockbuster was better. She finally consented and we left to go pick up movies. When we came back she was still in bed. Tio finished fixing his bread and she came out to see what we had brought for movies. We watched an old 007 film, and Tio found the book in their library. Which is massive if I haven’t said that already. Then we all went to bed. Día 28: Sit woman, SIT!!! Tia woke up way sick. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, the works. But she wouldn’t sit down for more than 20 minutes at a time. She always ended up beating us to something. We had an appointment to get our hair done at 2. I talked her out of dying her hair because I didn’t think that the chemicals would do her good. But we went regardless, and got our hair straightened. No spirits, but the best so far. Then Tia ended up staying up reading. At 9 she finally gave in and went to bed. mood: sore |
